Garden Visitors
Meadowlarks, with their yellow and black feathers, seek seeds and are camouflaged during many forays among our sunflowers. An hour or so before sunset is a good time to crash their dinner parties--do so quietly since they spook easily. Can you find evidence they have been eating in our garden?
Friday: The Walls Are Up!
Thanks to Rod G. and Jim , the leveling for the foundation, the construction of flooring, and the walls were completed today!
Sauteed Kale - submitted by Kirsten J.
- A large bunch of kale (12-15 leaves) de-stemmed and chopped finely
- Three cloves minced garlic
- 3 T oil (olive, sesame or canola)
- 3 T lemon juice pepper and salt or soy sauce to taste
A variation is to cook bacon, ham or pork first and saute the kale in the meat fat, then sprinkle in vinegar instead of the lemon juice. This is more of a southern style way to eat greens!
